Bo Bites – PK Shabu & Grill

(Lyrics – Michael Jackson – P.Y.T)

Where should we go Shabu
And ohh won’t you take me there
Right away won’t you Bo Bites
All You Can Eat you’ve got to be

Spark my intrique
Spicy broth for me
Don’t you know now
Is the perfect time

We can go Yelp it right
Hit the city bites
Then tonight ease the hunger pain
Let me take you to the grill

I want to Yelp you (PK Grill)
Shabu Hotpot
I’m really hungry (A-Y-CE)
Buffet style here
And I’ll take you there

I’m a bit of a skeptic these days of Shabu restaurants simply because I feel it’s being played out. Needless to say, my visit to PK Shabu & Grill was on a whim and couple of my friends joined me on this new venture.

At first, this place reminded me of a cafeteria; large vaulted ceilings with a lot of metal cooking pots and stainless steel counter tops. The price seem steep for $30 a person and $17 for kids under the age of 10. I was getting nervous!

Alright, let us get to the food! I ordered the Original Broth to keep it simple. The flavors were subtle and not overpowering, but salty indeed. However, I find it paired well with the raw ingredients, as you were also able to concoct your flavor of dipping sauce on the side. I’m big on peanut sauce and sesame oil with a hint of spice. I wasn’t too impressed with the meat options plus I found them too thinly sliced; to the point where they seem to just disappear in the broth.

Moreover, my favorite part of the whole experience was the buffet sides! Wow, the plethora of vegetables, noodles, and seafood were quite impressive! I rather enjoyed filling my plate with fun and colorful ingredients that may seem outlandish, but worth the try.

In the end, PK Shabu & Grill is worth your time and money. I don’t think you will be disappointed with some fun bites that will fill your belly and fun experience meter! I definitely would bring some friends and have a few beers along the way! – Enjoy!
